Luke Dixon Drawing
This project is inspired by Luke Dixon and the image above (found on http://bldgwlf.com).
This project proceeds a portrait drawn with a grid, ensuring that students have knowledge of the grid method in order to draw out an image, erasing the grid, then add value to create a realistic drawing.
Steps:
1. Choose a portrait that is a self portrait or of a family member or friend. No photos from the internet are allowed.
2. Grid out the image of choosing
3. Outline each value change.
4. Re-drew the grid on a new piece of paper but this time double the measurements to 2" x 2" grid.
5. Transferred the blobs of value from the original image onto the fresh gridded paper (instead of drawing each realistic line). See the works below if this sounds confusing.
6. Once student has their image re-drawn, use sharpies to go over their pencil marks
7. Add contour lines to create some value.
