YOUR JOB:
1: on a minimum 9"x9"" paper create an initial grid that creates spaces no larger than 1"x 1" (please use a ruler or any other aid that will make this light and concise)
2: Inside of this grid, you must create a second grid that fits evenly within each space.
3: Pick two color schemes, (contrasting emotion related to color) one will be painted in the inside grid, one will be painted in the initial grid (foreground/background)
4: Each separate color scheme should further be manipulated (tints, tones, chroma) so as to create some visually interesting effect and convey intended emotion.
QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:
Can you play with the sizing of your grid to further manipulate how the viewer experiences your painting?
What color scheme are you comfortable working with that will also create the visual impact/emotional impact you desire?
How will you strategically mix and place your colors?
How will you guarantee you have the perfect color mixture for the right space at the right time?
How can you go beyond the basic and make this assignment truly unique to you?
Will you create your own "template" for design?
